"We don't have any Christmas pictures with Keeneye in them," Liam complains, and brings me my camera and grabs the beast, who waits for just the right moment to GRAB Liam's nose. Claws not extended. No need to; the threat is enough.
Does anyone know how to take decent low-light photos with a flash without totally white-lighting the whole scene? It's all or nothing, in my experience, and nothing's better than all. But not by much. Maybe I just need a better camera.

Magical! The lights of the tree, the shiny look in the little girl's eyes (your daughter, I think), the boy holding his stuffed animal - I think the photo is perfect as it is.
I told HIM it was already time to bring out our tree!
If your flash is separate from your camera, you can bounce the light off the ceiling or the wall.
I like to bounce of the wall sometimes; it's called hypomania.
off the wall.
I love your tree! The kids look like they are having so much fun.

look at those pretty kids!
i always love your christmas shots, just the way they are...bellisimo =)
the warmth just oozes out of this shot...
peace...
If you can't bounce the light by changing the angle of the flash, sometimes you can weaken it with a white handkerchief or something; if you really want a mood use a colored gel!
I do like this one the way it is, though...glad the kitty kept it's claws in!

Inger, even though I haven't been blogging, I read every post you write and am consistently moved by your thoughts and observations. I'm on new meds, and feeling much better.
I love the picture. Your kids look so full of life and love.
