Antiseptic

I've become increasingly paranoid about having been so free with identifying info here--especially since my employer and I are at such political and philosophical odds. May introduced me to the sitemap, and now I see anyone logged on in the DC vicinity and my throat gets tight.

So I've saved the archives and am deleting them here. Does anybody know how to do that without going post by post? (God, I HAVE gone on...)

And now I need to come up with a name that's not Inger. I guess, for search purposes, I n g e r would work, right? I guess the photo should go. Uch, it's depressing; I like it the way it is...

I feel the same way.. depressed. I do not feel good about cory having found my blog..

( he is not the only one, but the only one that bothers me.. ) I don't worry about my employer.. even though I have gone on a bit about the school..
but my situation is different.

I have not been able to do what you are doing.. I know that I should, but.. so far, I am just in denial..

( site map? what is the site map? and where? )

I hate to see your photo go .. it makes me smile..

So much for any sort of privacy eh?

I don't want to lose you, or other friends I have made here.. that is a big reason for my not doing anything.. would it work to just change the name, I wonder?

boo hoo

>:-(

Oh Inger, I will miss your face too. I totally understand the need to do what you have to - I still have much under wraps as I don't want to be read by others in my daily life. Can't help much with the blogger questions either -I have such liimited technical knowledge of this blog stuff!

What a sad situation. In this day and age we can't be too careful.

I too will miss your smile and hope if you change your identity you will email privately and let me know your new location. Geez, just like a blog witness protection program!

Sometimes you have to do things for the greater good, and that's yourself and family at this point!

Thank you for all your kind words; they mean so much!

sometimes i worry a bit.
but my bosses are too stupid to find a blog, AND i rarely write of them or work, because i like thinking of other things.

and if anyone i know finds it, and is somehow offended... whatever.
annie just doesn't really give a damn!

glad you found an answer for this, inger. don't ever go!!

Perhaps you could use a different name to start with. May is not my real name either (it is my month of birth and the name of a character in one of Edith Wharton's novels). When I become friend with someone, I immediately tell them my real name.

Pictures: I am vain and therefore the pleasure to see pictures of myself is greater than the fear to be recognized (which is an event with a very low probability). I do not post pictures of relatives and friends, though.

Being found: I get nervous, actually mad, when somebody of my Country connects to my blog!

I am still sad (and in tears) because of Liam's big thoughts. Better go.

You are brave to take back your info..
One of my frustrations is that I am always looking for other McStays out there..

as you can see from my email.. that is my maiden ( and preferred ) name.. I use it often and many people know me only that way.. but, I am always hopeful of meeting more McStays. Story is that we are all basically and somehow related
( two clans intermarried.. etc)

so.. that is one reason that i have not changed blogs..

I am still mighty resentful, because I feel spied on :P i know its the internet but...

oh well

thanks for visiting my place :)
it always makes me smile... it is your gift, I think... I notice your smile effect at other blogs too!

take care

I totally get this worry.
It is why I moved my blog to wordpress, though that action isn't necessary. It made me feel better. I think wordpress is less popular for search engines. I was finding personal blog posts all over the web with my real name. As you would expect. It never bothered me until I started my business and knew I didn't want potential clients reading my innermost thoughts.

I would not however, just delete your blogspot blog. Whether you only change names or move to a different server. Blogspot spammers jump on abandoned blog titles and make porn sites out of them.
happen to me twice.
sorry for your angst

you know, when i first read this post i thought you were being paranoid--but then something happened to someone i know well with their blog, and all of a sudden i felt Big Brother smiling down at all of us. creepy image!
i am so lucky to have an employer that feels the same way i do about most things political. another blessing that i have, until now, taken for granted. thanks for the reminder, and stay safe!

I'm sorry you even have to think about this.

I'm pretty much the same online as in real life, so it doesn't bother me, but I very seldom put my name on, and I only post the "generic office" parts of life at my company for a reason.
