Happy Spring!

When the bulldozer filled the hole that used to be a pool, it also tore up the rose of sharon bush that my grandmother had transplanted from her first house in the US and given to my mother, who had transplanted it through all of our moves. Dad's not given to sentimentality, and by the time we realized what he'd told the workers to do, the rose of sharon was in the bottom of a dumpster, beneath 5 tons of stuff. All that remained was dirt.

These little purple babies from the pre-dozer landscape just popped through. Which is not to say the loss doesn't hurt, but just that I keep forgetting how tenacious life is. Spring is a good time.

Got up at noon and looked outside and saw the first dandelion of spring; I guess it's official now, winter is OVER!!!

Lovely post. I have a climbing rosebush growing at the front corner of my house that Mom planted in '53, and that tulip tree I spoke of a few weeks back. Plants are amazing and as you said, very tenacious!

The persistent flower put me in mind of a poem I like but had forgotten, so I translated it and posted it here.

Happy Spring!

that's a great photo!

i don't know what type of flower that is or what type of plant was uprooted, but are those flowers from that plant?

my dad gave me an azalea plant for my 10th birthday, which was planted outside our back door. When my parents got work done on the house, the workers killed the plant :( I'm STILL mad at them, probably five years later!
