We love you, Sidney

This little cat who is the companion of our home,
Keep him safe as he goes abroad,
And bring him back to comfort us.

No sign of Sid. By now, if he's alive, he hasn't eaten in two days. Probably he's hurt. I hope he's dead--a blindsiding smack from a tire, a neck-snapping bite from a coyote; there's two feet of snow outside. Liam dreamt last night that some stranger had let Sid in, and fed him, and doesn't want to let him go because he's such a sweetheart. I can live with that rendering. I can advance it as fact, even. I probably will.

* * *
So I'm moving to Annapolis, friends! And feeling quite good about it, now that I've spent the weekend hammering out my parents' plans with them. They're selling their house--the old family house. I worried--I looked for signs that Mom was unhappy about it; she's resisted all talk of moving in the past. But she looks decided and a bit relieved, and I wonder now if my presence here was keeping them from taking their own steps. They'll stay around here for a few more years in a smaller place, then move down to Annapolis as well. It gives me time to get settled--to have them down for holidays and vacations, and to help them make their own transitions.

Now, if only Sid would scratch at the door--it would all be perfect.

Congrats on the decision girl....

Your parents will get along and then when they move on down life will be perfect. Sorry about the cat. It is so hard losing a pet and then not really knowing what happened.

Love to you all. Are you going to get Maisie home tomorrow?

Oh Inger..this is indeed exciting news. I'm sure Sid is doing what Sid needs to do...and I'm so happy that you've decided on this course!

As a kid we moved on average every 2 to 2 1/2 years and hey I turned out okay. Kids adjust and you kids are already adjusted..so you are 9/10ths there already.

I'm so so so excited.....

Wow Inger!

A new and exciting path!

I am very happy for you and at the same time sad to hear such bad news (sid).

Liam's dream is touching, what a beautiful heart he has.

Take Care

My cat looked just like Sid, she was a Nikki. She was pure white with blue eyes and deaf as they come.

One day she disappeared. She left as she arrived...with out warning.

Some times they just make their own decision to leave.

Congrats on the job and good luck with the move!

I remember from DC, that one neighboring state advertised its tourism with the slogan "Virginia is for lovers."

Your new home countered with the slogan "Maryland is for crabs." More truthful and more relevant.

You're going to be fine!

I'm happy for your happiness, and hoping Sid shows up soon! Glad for your parents as well; though giving up the house will be hard, my grandparents loved their apartment and not having to worry about so many things when they moved. Of course, it got them out of hosting all the family dinners as well, lol!

Thinking of you!

Oh Inger! congratulations! I'm so thrilled for you! You get to have your cake and eat it too! You just never know what's going on in people'e minds do you? Not even your own family.
I praying this is a wonderful and realtively easy transition for you and the kids....and I'm sure that, just as Liam dreamed, Sid is safe and sound inside some warm place hiding out til the storm passes. They may just decide to keep him....:)

Sid is a beautiful kitty! I wish for you peace in whatever the outcome. Loving an animal is so sweet and yet tears you up inside when something happens to them.

I am hoping for the best.

Congratulations on the decision!!!

If Sid doesn't scratch on that door, I don't blame you for letting Liam believe that interpretation. *hug*
