The Eye
I was born with a funky right eye. Shaped like a football--not any normal-sized eyeball--and turned in towards my nose. I look permanently perplexed in all my baby photos. At 18 months they did the first surgery, which was mostly cosmetic.
And so I smiled more, but still couldn't really see well, hence the vacant grin under Mom's home-job haircut in my first passport pic. Finally, I get them: my blue eyeglasses--the desperate desire of every gradeschooler in Hurlbutt School. Thank God long-hair-in-the-face was in then. Saved by fashion once again. By then I was permanently shy. Didn't wear off until I hit 40.

Oh this is just the best! I love the picture of you with your glasses.
I didn't get glasses till I was a sophmore in high school. I was so excited!
Who would know how much I'd grow to hate them. Hence the adage, never wish for what you don't want!
Here's to a great week Inger! And it's only six days away from Sunday!

If I had seen that little girl I would have know she would grow up to be a great writer.

Why in the world did our mother's ever think trying to cut our hair before picture day was a good idea?
Take care,
Sublime
You gotta love the haircuts mom gave us!

I was shy too growing up. Not sure if it has worn off yet. Ha. I used to get home haircuts too.
