The Day After Thanksgiving

Maisie slugged Liam in the cheek with her elbow. Accident? Witnesses disagree. Santa Claus was off fixing a busted belt at Stew Leonard's. Liam hissed, "He's a phony. He doesn't say 'Ho Ho Ho' right." Maisie said, "He's fatter than the real Santa." Liam asks, "How many points is a candy cane?"
Liam writes a letter to his birthparents. "I miss you, but someday I'm coming to visit. Bye-bye." He cries while he spells it out, and draws a family picture with them and him together. Holidays tend to bring out these feelings. I'm in a snit about his birthparents: how dare they do this to their own child. How dare they.
Snits pass. Best left unnoticed.
It's freezing--22 degrees outside--and at a certain temperature these old walls just give up and you can feel the air seep through. Toes are freezing. Fingers are freezing.
I love winter. Head-over-heels, racing-heart love.

I too love cold weather...but from afar these days. Nancy's right...Houston winters are very mild. Today it all rain rain rain!

See ya tomorrow on Photo Sunday!
Great photo of the kids....
As far as the weather, it has been cold in MN this weekend. I have lived in Houston and winter was rather ugly there. Everything is brown, it is chill you to the bone cold when it is in the 50s, and I missed the winter white.
I do like winter but only through January then it could be over....
I love it too!
Stay warm up there. You could be in Texas where it is 80 degrees and raining -- yuck
Your children are beautiful. So how many points ARE in a candy cane? Jeeeeez I havent calculated that one yet!.
Liam may always be curious about hs birth parents....but he has been blessed to have YOU as his REAL parent and his sister as his REAL sister. He loves you and he will always know you as Mom. Forever.
What an awesome, beautful post. I love your writing!!!

You take the absolute best photos. The lighting and composition is always spot one.
This could be a magazine ad.
Of course, it helps that your children are gorgeous.
Will you take a picture of me someday?

beautiful picture! decorating so soon?
*faint* have not even worked up the courage to think about it! not the same with the kids so scattered :(
no thoughts on liam and his letter except.. what he thinks and feels is normal and right, but he is loved completely, and i know he feels it..how could he not?
you are a good mom.. your kids? so amazing!!! thanks to the mom..
Oh the holidays...
6 is on the edge of her seat waiting for bmom to forward a picture of her dad. (Where the brown skin comes from!) Letter to bmom due in Jan - a yearly update - although last year's was just picked up...how to explain to the child. It's not lack of interest. Time is such a different measure to kids. Waiting seems a lifetime.
Beautiful pic, beautiful kids. I think our kids would get along wonderfully...it would make for some interesting conversation at least!
The kids look so adorable in front of the christmas tree. That should be your holiday card.
love the realness of this post. Where is liam from again? I used to love decorating the tree at Thanksgiving.
What an awesome photo. You do have a good eye...(no pun intended...:)
My kids love decorating on Thanksgiving weekend too. we had the help of our 2 yr old granddaughter this year...now that's fun! lol
