Things I did that they didn't do

Let the two kids climb under my covers when the alarm went off.
Took a hot shower to wake up.
Made french toast.
Checked email.
Put the kids on the school bus.
Cashed a check at the bank.
Bought little presents for the kids to celebrate the first week of school.
Ate a tuna sandwich.
Talked to a friend in India.
Mailed out resumes.
Picked the kids up at the bus stop.
Played a raucous game of miniature golf with them on Playstation.
Watched the news.
Turned up the air conditioner.
Turned on the lights.
Closed my door.
Flushed the toilet.
Broiled fish and steamed carrots, and fed my kids.
Tucked them into their beds.
Reassured them that there was nothing to be afraid of.

Inger,

Isn't it amazing how these "little things" are really such "huge things" in the life of a child.

You are wonderful.

good post Inger.. I wonder how long it will be before any sort of sanity finds its way back into the lives of these people?

I stayed away from the tv all day yesterday.. until 3pm... and then the first pictures I saw had me in tears..

I want to reach into the tv and bring some of them home..

Inger,

I read the articles from your post yesterday and I was grateful that I "knew" somebody to keep me informed! Also, I think it is infinatley important that we all remember our blessing, no matter how inconsequential they may seem to someone else.

As a mother, I too feel grateful just to be with my kids, doing everyday things! Thank you for reminding us of all that we have a lot to be thankful for.

Oh yeah, I've been meaning to tell you that I miss CPR and most of all Faith Middleton's Food Schmooze since I moved to the Gulf Coast.

What are you mailing out resumes for? Are you looking for a job? I don't think I ever found out what you write for? Is that your job? Ok later, Anna

I have the same thoughts throughout the day. Turned on lights, opened my refrigerator, tucked my son in bed.

I absolutely cannot fathom the desperation and agony they must feel.

Wonderful blog.

Gratitude for all the small things is so important.
It keeps in perspective what they lost and yet assures us that we can help them return to the same comforts.
This was just beautiful.
