Game face

They decide to run in a charity event for a local animal shelter. Liam's doing the 100-yd dash, Maisie the mile. Liam finished the 100-yd dash pissed off (above) because some of his competitors were wearing diapers, and insists on also running the mile with Maisie. This pisses off Maisie no end, since Liam--in the unlikely event that he finished--would then have two ribbons. Had she known, she could have run in the 100-yd dash, too, see? Etc.

She swallows it. He runs with her. They both finish--lungs on fire, legs shaking, glowing and happy. They turn down fruit juice for water. They walk past tables of chips and muffins.

Who are you and what have you done with my children?

Passed up the chips. Why didn't I learn to do that! Cause Inger wasn't my MOM!

Ah...life going on. It reassures and soothes.

Thank you.

Jade's the same. Complete water drinker and will say no to fruit juice (at school) when offered.

She even eats 7 grain wheat bread (God forbid I see any of her friends do that), I grew up on Wonder bread. It's all what you start them out on that makes the difference.

Can you imagine a 4 year old eating Bran cereal?

Tough little guy. Good for him (and Maisie).

One of my girls ate fruit all the time. The other one only ate things that were white, like potatoes. They're both fine.

We mess with them too much. Don't just do something, sit there!

That is such a cute picture of Liam. OH a little healthy competition within the family is normal (at least it is in our house).

They must have really worn themselves out if they only went for the water. Well I wish the rest of the world's children were as healthy as yours.

I remember field day that we used to have at school. I actually hated it. I hated being physical in front of everyone. It embarrassed me for some reason. So I am glad that they enjoy the whole competitive, physical activity thing. Anna

I was the same way, Anna. Distinctly recall a male teammate's disgust, dragging me along as his co-runner in a chariot race during one field day, then telling all his friends what a physical LOSER I was! I actually haven't let either of mine compete with other people--only themselves, personally; anybody who finished the runs on Sunday got ribbons. My kind of athletic event!

And Inger.. this is just the beginning..
they will astound and amaze you so often, you will have to physically
pull your eyebrows down and hydrate your wide eyes..
kids.. you are in the absolute best part of it now, you know..
Enjoy.... and just remember to pick your battles.. because.. battle will present themselves.. be wise and judicious
