Converting to STBism

I'm so inspired by STB's walking regimen. Inspired--filled with enthusiasm and interest--but not yet emulating. It's very hard to wear too many hats. Hard for me, anyway. I think I'm a one-hat chick. Two hats, tops. This limits me.

For example, I got up at 5:45 this morning; the 3rd graders catch a 7am bus (of all absurd things), and it's fucked mightily with our leisurely temperaments and body clocks. Got the kids out the door, onto the buses, and came back in to get some work done at the computer. Then the power went out, and stayed out for two hours.

Now, there's plenty to be done around here. There are dishes that need attention, and the kids have clothes in the hamper upstairs, not to mention that I still have to paint the bathroom and find income to replace the income that's going to go away any month now. But I am single minded--it's a failing--and I was in computer mode and couldn't use the computer. So I pulled Native Son off the bookshelf and plopped onto the couch, thwarted. A little Bigger Thomas; that's the mood for me. What could I do? What?

STB would have gone walking, after he cleaned the dishes. His bathroom would've been painted last month, and the laundry would never accumulate. The walk would have cleared the cobwebs out of his head, and when he came back home and the power was back on, he'd have completed in one hour what it takes me three to do. I'm sure of it.

Tomorrow morning. I swear to God, I'm putting those kids on the bus and walking.

It really is all about STB. He is my hero. I need to borrow him for a month or two to get me and my house in shape. Plus, he would just look so damn good hanging around my house.

I'll walk tomorrow, if you will.

I have a 30 minute walking DVD that works for me. Does it count if I don't go outside?

Don't be so hard on yourself. I bought a 3-year membership to Bally's in 2003 and used it maybe 20 times. I always say, why do today what you can get done tomorrow. LOL

Just kidding, I really do need to start getting in a routine again. You really do feel a lot better after exercising. I was thinking about getting one of those pedometers to track my progress.

Maybe you could get one of your friends or another mom that drops the kids off at the bus stop to go walking with you. That way you get it out of the way in the morning, are energized, and ready to accomplish the tasks of the day.

Keep us updated and good luck. Remember tomorrow is always a new beginning with endless possibilities.

*In agreement about STB* We should auction him off. Maybe throw in his sidekick RQM for good measure since they are both so damn nice and adorable.

Walking sounds like a plan to me...

Take care,

hmmm.. not a morning person, I see?

I love early morning. .watching the sun come up with a cup of hot comforting coffee in my had.. with my dog at my feet.. bliss!

Of course that means that I am in bed early... struggling to stay awake for the whole episode of the Daily show..

Good luck on your new routine..
I keep trying to start walking again.. but the weather and event thwart me..

( yes... because I let them )

*shrug*
who, btw, is STB anyway?

Sorry to show my ignorance..
I will go off and look at google.. or something..

Hope your bodyclock gets resorted soon.. and yes!

it is ridiculous for third graders to get on the bus at 7 am.. just so the teachers can make it home before three..

they should go to school at 9 am and stay til four.. with a whole hour for lunch and recess..

( can you tell how old I am ?)

Hang in and take care
k

wwstbd? stb is my hero, too...i'm finding it very odd how many times during the day i think about this person stb that i don't even know, but adore...

i have got the exercise thing down...i paid mercedes money for a gym membership, cuz the other day i went to put on one of those indian wrap skirts that i've been wearing for, oh, 30 years, and it would not go around me...

once the body is back in shape, then i will paint...cuz there's plenty of painting to be done here, too...

a time for everything...

p.s. 7:00 am bus time to pick up 8 year olds is just silly...tell them so, inger =)

ciao =)

I pick a good book vs. the dishes and hamper any time!!! I am always a cluttery mess and would love STB to be my personal helper and confidant!

I took up running last spring and it was great way to relieve stress. This summer's thrown me off my game, but now the kids are back in school I'm determined to get back on the horse, so to speak!
(BTW, what's up with that 7 AM bus? That's insane!!!)

Thanks for your comments today! I appreciate your kind words more than you know.

I have a 3 year old Pilates tape I am planning to start "tomorrow".

but - my dishes are done, the laundry is cleaned and put away. I have two little 'Cinderella's' to help. Painting? no problem. The upstairs hall of my home is testimony to their willingness to help.

Want to borrow them?

A little dose of humor is needed.
Thanks Sher!

Yay, Sher!

Y'all can have STB the rest of the year, but I have dibs on the Butler for Thanksgiving and when my brother visits me in NYC. :-P

If you lived in NYC, you'd have your walking regimen all set.
